We suggest that you notify your midwife on call as soon as you've gone into labor. Natural childbirth at home means you will experience the freedom to move around as needed, eat what you'd like when you'd like, and relax in whatever way feels good for your body. The combination of support and comfort from your family and our team, is beneficial in facilitating your birth.

Sara Ferguson, APRN is a Certified Nurse-Midwife with over 20 years experience guiding women through pregnancy, birth and beyond. In addition to home birth, family planning and well woman gynecologic care are available. In accordance with the woman's needs, individualized birth control prescriptions, devices and pap smears are provided in our office at 10 Youell Street, Florence, KY. Sara is in network with several major insurers and fees for home birth are often less than the deductable.
Following a healthy low risk pregnancy, labor and birth is ordinarily accomplished in the comfort of the woman's home with a midwife in attendance. It is recommended that you select a nearby hospital in the rare event consultation or transfer of care becomes necessary.
A doula is a trained, certified birth attendant whose main goal is keeping you comfortable during the process of labor with massage, positioning and encouragement. It is highly recommended that you select and hire a doula that you are comfortable with to assist at your home birth.
